Staten Island Ferry
The Staten Island Ferry is a passenger transport service operated by the New York City Department of Transportation, running between the southernmost tip of Manhattan near Battery Park and Staten Island. The ferry ride is a favorite of tourists because it offers one of the most spectacular views of the Lower Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty. In service since 1905, the ferry carries over 21 million passengers annually on its 5.2 mile journey, which takes 25 minutes each way. Currently free of charge, the Staten Island Ferry runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
