Everglades National Park
The Everglades National Park encompasses over 1.5 million acres; protecting 25% if the original Everglades, the last sub-tropical wilderness in the United States. The park was created to restore, preserve, and protect the fragile South Florida ecosystem, and provides for other water related needs of the region.
The Everglades National Park is home to over 350 species of birds, 300 species of fresh and saltwater fish, 40 species of mammals, and 50 species of reptiles. With four visitors centers in the Park, there are a variety of activities to enjoy during a visit to the Everglades such as walking trails, camping, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.
