The Palau Episcopal of Barcelona began construction in 1889 atop former Roman ruins to replace the original palace that had been destroyed by fire. Architect Gaudi abandoned the work after the Bishop died, and the Palace was not occupied until 1961.
The Bishop’s Palace combines many architectural styles. The interior of the Palace is of Romanesque architecture with a beautiful courtyard in the center, highlighted by beautiful Romanesque windows from the 13th Century and Gothic windows from the 15th century.
