Sagrada Familia Church
The Sagrada Familia Church is a prominent site in Barcelona, offering a rare combination of Spanish Late Gothic, Modernism and Art Nouveau architecture inspired by architect, Antoni Gaudi. The Church has a unique architectural style, ambitious columnar and arch structures, and a variety of Christian symbols in its design.
Though still incomplete, the Sagrada Familia was designated a World Heritage site, and was consecrated and proclaimed a minor basilica by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010. Construction on the Church commenced in 1882, and current architects hope to have it completed in 2026, the centennial of Gaudi’s death.
