Tsukiji Fish Market in Tsukiji is Tokyo's wholesale fish larder. Visitors arrive early to see 3,000 tons of 450 types of seafood being sold. Dodge the giant tuna and dive into a local sushi bar before things slow down at 10am. In 2008, Tsukiji Fish Market limited its area open to visitors, following problems caused by groups of disruptive tourists. The market prefers visitors to arrive after 9am, but those who do choose come and watch the early tuna auction must stand in the designated spectator area and flash photography is strictly prohibited. Groups are limited to five people.
