Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Beautiful 19th-century arcade Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is situated on Milan's central square. Its glass dome forms a roof over elegant cafés and fashionable boutiques. Pirouette on the bull mosaic for good luck before joining affluent locals for an espresso.
Also known as Milan's lounge, the gallery is home to restaurants, bars, silversmiths, clothing shops and some of the city's best bookstores. The arcade was designed by architect Giuseppe Mengoni and built between 1865 and 1877. It has the shape of a cross, with an octagon of iron and glass in the middle, reaching a height of 47 metres at its central dome.
