Berliner Dom

The Berliner Dom is a beautiful baroque Cathedral that was built between 1894 and 1905, the third such church at this location. The first modest church was built on its grounds in 1465, replaced by a baroque cathedral in 1745, and later remodeled into a classicist building in 1822. In 1894, the building was demolished and replaced to resemble the catholic St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, unusually ornate for a protestant church.
A restoration of the richly decorated interior was completed in 1993, which included the reconstruction of its original pipe organ built in 1905 with over 7,000 pipes.
