Berlin, Germany Attractions

Created at the end of the 17th Century, the Gendarmenmarkt is known as one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. Three landmark buildings, the Franzosischer Dom, Deutscher Dom, and the Konzerthaus comprise this beautiful market place.
The Concert Hall, or Konzerthaus, was built in 1821 and is home to the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. The French Cathedral, or Franzosischer Dom, was built in the early 1700’s by the Huguenot community seeking refuge from persecution in Francein Protestant Berlin. The Cathedral contains a Huguenot museum, a restaurant, and a viewing platform. The German Cathedral, or Deutscher Dom, was destroyed by fire in 1945, and reopened in 1996 as a museum with exhibits on German history.
