Elephant Cave

Developed in the 11th Century, Goa Gajah, or Elephant Cave is one of the most historical sites in Bali. Partially destroyed by natural disaster, the site was undetected for centuries before being rediscovered by Dutch archaeologists in 1923.
Goa Gajah is considered to be a place to meditate and worship the Hindu God of knowledge and wisdom, Lord Ganesha who is characterized by an elephant head and four arms.
