Chester Beatty Library

Sir Alfred Chester Beatty was an American of Irish descent who made his fortune in the mining industry and collected rare manuscripts. His collection was bequeathed to Ireland and is housed in the Chester Beatty Library on the grounds of Dublin Castle.
The collection includes early illuminated gospels and religious manuscripts, displaying ancient editions of the Bible and other religious texts, beautiful copies of the Koran, and a variety of documents from the West, Middle East, and Far East cultures. Visitors can enjoy a Mediterranean and Near East cuisine at the Library’s award-winning Silk Road Café.
