Christ Church Cathedral
Designed to view from the riverside, the stately Christ Church Cathedral dates back to 1038 when the first wooden Christ Church was built in its location. In 1171, the cathedral’s original foundation was extended and rebuilt in stone in the shape of a cruciform by Strongbow, a Normal warrior.
The Cathedral’s beautiful stonework and pointed arches still exist, dating back to 1878 when an extensive renovation was completed. A statue of Strongbow and the 12th century crypt still remain from the original structure of Christ Church Cathedral.
