KilmainhamGaol Historical Museum
Visitors interested in learning more about Ireland’s struggle for independence from British rule will be moved while passing through the KilmainhamGaol Historical Museum. From 1796 to 1924, many political prisoners were incarcerated, tortured, and killed within the walls of this former prison, including men, women and children who were incarcerated up to 5 in each cell.
Now empty of prisoners, the KilmainhamGaol is a museum filled with history, and often referred to as the “Irish Bastille”.
