St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Considered one of the most loved churches in the world, St. Patrick’s Cathedral is the largest church in Ireland, and dates as far back as the 5th century. The present cathedral dates from 1190, but due to fire and rebuilding in the 14th century, not much of its original structure remains.
The cathedral is primarily of early English architecture, with a square medieval tower and 18th-century spire, which houses the largest ringing peal bells in Ireland. The vast interior of St. Patrick’s stretches 295 feet, highlighting soaring vaulted ceilings and a vast nave. The cathedral also holds a memorial to the Irish soldiers who died fighting in the two world wars.
