One of the most beautiful buildings in Buenos Aires, the CirculoMilitar was built as the mansion of the Paz family, one of the wealthiest and most powerful families in the country. Reminiscent of Versailles, the ornate interior of the palace is a wonderful place for visitors to wander throughout.
Also referred to as the Palacio Paz or Palacio Retiro, the building is officially called the CirculoMilitar, which is named for the society of retired military officers who bought the building in 1938 when the Depression made the building impossible to maintain.
