Buenos Aires, Argentina Attractions

Teatro Colon

Opened in 1908, the luxurious Teatro Colon opera house is one of the most beautiful buildings in Buenos Aires that has been graced by the likes of Luciano Pavarotti, Julio Bocca, Arturo Toscanini, and Placido Domingo. In addition to visiting performers, the Colon has its own Philharmonic orchestra, choir, and ballet company.
The theatre opened in 1908, combining several European architectural styles to create beautifully, hand-crafted stained glass pieces, an Italian marble staircase, and French furnishings, chandeliers, and appointments. The main theater seats 3,000 people with world-renowned acoustics, and an enormous chandelier hanging from its painted, domed ceiling.
