Nymphenburg Palace

The Nymphenburg Palace was commissioned by Elector Ferdinand Maria in 1664 to celebrate the birth of his son Maximillan Emmanuel as a summer residence for his family. The central section of the palace was designed to resemble an Italian Villa, and over time, many additions were made to the palace.
Visitors to the Nymphenburg Palace are able to view rooms decorated in their original Baroque style, while others were redone in Rococo and neo-Classical style. The stable at the palace houses a museum of ancient carriages and sleighs, and the gardens surrounding the palace are wonderful to view, visit and wander through.
