Hohenzollernbrucke

The Hohenzollern Bridge is the oldest and most famous one of seven bridges that crosses the Rhine River in Cologne, due in part to its location near the Cologne Cathedral. Constructed between 1907 and 1911, the Hohenzollernbruckehad four railway tracks and a two lane road, and was supported by three iron arches. At the end of World War II, the retreating German army blew up all bridges across the Rhine, and the Hohenzollern Bridge was reconstructed.
Today, the bridge has been developed to accommodate six railway tracks and a pedestrian walkway for visitors crossing the Rhine who want to capture a beautiful view of the skyline of Cologne. The bridge is especially spectacular at night, when the arches are illuminated.
