Cider Taverns in Sachsenhausen

Sachsenhausen, on the south bank of the Main River opposite Frankfurt’s Old Town, is home to a number of traditional cider taverns. These taverns typically produce and serve what is called Apfelwein, usually the least expensive of all German alcoholic beverages. Two of Sachsenhausen’s favorite cider taverns are Zum Gemalten Haus and Wagner, each located along the district’s cosmopolitan Schweizer Strasse. In the winter, guests enjoy cider and traditional German food at long, communal wooden tables, and in warmer weather, relax in a cider tavern courtyard.
