Swiss National Museum

The Swiss National Museum, or Landesmuseum, provides a historical account of the culture of Switzerland. Housed in a 19th century building, the collection contains works of religious art, including 16th century stained glass and frescos.
The Prehistoric section of the Swiss National Museum includes artifacts from the 4th millennium B.C. with a large display of Roman clothing, medieval silverware, 14th century drinking bowls, and 17th century china. Furniture, musical instruments, costumes, weapons and armor from various periods are also on display. Of particular interest is the exhibit tracing the history of Swiss clock making from the 16th century.
