Leipzig, Germany Attractions
Leipzig Botanical Garden
There is no charge for visitors to stroll through the Leipzig Botanical Garden, which was first established in 1541, and today is one of the world’s leading botanical gardens. Situated at its present location since the late 1870s, the garden was destroyed during World War II. Reconstruction and restoration was challenging. Following the German reunification, funding became available for the construction of new greenhouses, and new attractions such as the butterfly exhibit. More than 7,000 different types of flowers and plants are on display, including varieties from tropical and subtropical climates.
