Neues Rathaus

The New Town Hall for Leipzig isn’t exactly new. The foundation stone was laid in 1899 and the building, which is located on the Burgplatz, opened in 1905. Today, the building which is located on the city’s ring road serves as the center of Leipzig’s municipal administration. The neo-baroque structure’s signature architectural feature is the Rapunzel Tower. One of the largest city halls in Germany, the building has more than 600 rooms, and a meticulously restored interior.
