Metropolitan Cathedral

The Metropolitan Cathedral in Mexico City is one of the most beautiful examples of colonial architecture in the world. Standing majestically in the capital’s Square, the Metropolitan is the largest cathedral in Latin America.
Construction on the cathedral began in 1524 and concluded in 1623 after three decades of work on the interior. The exterior was not completed until 1813. The cathedral’s choir, Royal Chapel, and altarpieces are some of the most outstanding features of the cathedral’s interior that are worth visiting.
