Plaza de lasTresCulturas

Three cultures collide in the Plaza de lasTresCulturas, or Square of the Three Cultures, the Aztec, Spanish, and contemporary Mexican. Surrounding many contemporary office and apartment buildings are large remains of the Aztec city of Tiateloico, the site of the last battle of the conquest of Mexico.
Visitors can view the Aztec temple remains of pyramids from raised walkways over the site. To the side of the Plaza is the Church of Santiago which was constructed entirely out of volcanic stone in the 16th century.
