The Kunsthistorisches Museum of Museum of Fine Arts, houses one of the most impressive collections of paintings, archaeological artifacts, and works of decorative art.
Originally located in the Hofburg and later the Belvedere Palace, the collection was relocated to the Kunsthistorisches Museum, which was created as a new museum complex across from the Hofburg. Two monumental museum buildings, one for fine arts and the other for natural history, were designed to accommodate the vast collection.
