St. Stephan’s Cathedral

Dating back to the 13th century, St. Stephan’s Cathedral, or Stephansdom, is at the heart of Austria’s capital and dominates the city skyline. The most elegant part of the cathedral’s exterior is the south tower, nicknamed Steffi (little Stephen). The gothic tower’s spire reaches a height of 450 feet, and towers over Vienna’s inner city. Visitors may take the 418-step stairway leading from the sacristy to the top.
