Western Han Nanyue King’s Tomb Museum

750 massive stones surround the tomb of the Han Dynasty King Zhao Mo, which was discovered in 1983. Inside the tomb, more than sixty feet below ground, archaeologists have identified more than a thousand burial artifacts, a chariot, gold and silver vessels, musical instruments, garments made from pieces of jade connected with gold, and the remains of human sacrifices. Visitors to The Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King can witness more than two thousand years of Chinese history. The tomb itself is massive, covering more than four thousand square feet, and sectioned off into seven different areas. It is the only tomb of its type with murals painted on its walls, and features the oldest imperial seal ever found in China.
