Botanic Garden

The JardinBotanico was founded in 1567 for the study of medicinal plants. In 1802, the garden was transferred to the Huerto de Tramoyeres outside the city walls, maintained by the University of Valencia.
Today, the Botanic Garden has more than 3000 species of plants and 7000 trees and shrubs. The gardens are used for investigating plant diversity and the conservation of rare plants or those that are threatened by loss of habitat.
