Shekou Sea World

This hotel and entertainment complex is built around what used to be a French ship, launched in the 1960s, purchased by China in 1973, and rechristened “Mighua.” Now permanently anchored at Shenzhen, the ship’s nine decks welcome visitors with restaurants and clubs, a gymnasium and a movie theater. While the ship never actually sets sail, it has become a major attraction, hosting dignitaries such as former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping. Many of the different restaurants and clubs have international themes, giving visitors a chance to experience the flavors of Italy, Hawaii, San Francisco, and Germany.
