State Gallery

The State Gallery, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, first opened in 1843 with a focus on the visual arts. Today, the three different buildings which comprise the museum display a number of different works reflecting a number of different styles and eras. The Baroque Gallery showcases 17th and 18th century paintings from German and Italian artists. 20th Century and contemporary works are also on display, along with German Renaissance pieces created between 1300 and 1550. The archives of the State Gallery in Stuttgart focus on the works of regional artists, and the museum offers a variety of ongoing educational programs. Founded in 1843, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart is one of the most popular museums in Germany.
