Jim Thompson’s House

An architect by training and an avid collector of Asian objets d’art, Jim Thompson settled down in Thailand after his discharge from the military in 1946. For the remaining 30 years, Thompson dedicated his life to reviving Thai silk, then a dying cottage industry, and introduced it to the world’s most respectable fashion houses and catwalks in Paris, New York, London and Milan.
The Thai house Thompson inhabited was comprised of six traditional Thai teakwood houses that were museum-like. In 1967, at the height of his success, he mysteriously disappeared into the Malaysian jungle, Visitors to his house will enjoy wandering through his home to experience his eclectic style, combining his western influences blended with the traditional elements found in Thailand.
