The National Museum

In the former grounds of the 18th century Wang Na Palace, the National Museum features the largest collection of Thai art and artifacts in the country. Opened in 1874 by King Rama V to exhibit the royal collection from his father, King Rama IV, the exhibits are arranged into three areas consistent with Thai history.
Today, the galleries contain collections spanning all periods of Thai history, and offer an unsurpassed introduction to the country’s art and architecture. Among the interesting collections are Chinese weapons, gold treasures, clothing and textiles, a funeral chariot hall, and many excellent examples of Thai architecture.
