Bangkok, Thailand Attractions
Officially called the VimanmekRoyal Mansion, the former palace in Bangkok is the world’s largest building made entirely of golden teak. The Palace was built in 1900 as a royal residence in the first few years, but was only used for several years before it had fallen into disuse. The Palace was rediscovered by Her Majesty the Queen, and turned it into a museum reflecting Thai heritage from the dramatic reign of King Rama V.
The Vimanmek Mansion Museum includes 20 restored structures of the old Dusit Palace displaying ancient artifacts of Thailand’s pre-history and contemporary photographs that were a part of the King’s collection.
